Professional Bio
Dr. Nina Méndez-Diaz (MD) is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience and training. Dr. MD received her family therapy training at Drexel University where she received her doctorate degree, graduating with honors. Since then, she has worked in a wide variety of settings, equipping her with a wealth of knowledge and experience helping clients deal with various challenges. Dr. MD specializes in therapy with individuals, couples, and families. A strong area of expertise is Dr. MD’s work in helping individuals, couples, and families navigate the impact of social media on their relationships. Dr. MD specializes in helping parents, adolescents, and couples navigate conflict from social media use in their lives. Other areas of expertise include but are not limited to, working with people struggling with anxiety, depression, relational challenges, physical and emotional infidelity, and marital/premarital work.
For the past 6 years, Dr. MD has also played an integral role in training and educating the future generations of family therapists. She has taught at universities in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas. She is currently the Associate Director of a master’s program, specializing in the training and education of future mental health service providers.
In addition to her work in training students, Dr. MD has lent her expertise to a wide variety of professional organizations, presenting at numerous national and international conferences. She is a member of the AAMFT and an AAMFT-approved supervisor candidate. Dr. MD is widely published in various texts, book chapters, and peer reviewed journals. She is often requested as an expert in the field from various media outlets, news channels and radio stations.
